Companies?

Just curious how many actual companies there are lurking around the forums. It seems like there a number of people who are not in the industry posting replies and advice. So taking a poll of people who either currently are in the industry, have previously been in the industry, or are not in the industry at all.

To get a accurate view I think it should have a few more categories.
  • Solo operator.
  • Fewer than 3 full time employees, not including self.
  • 4-10 full time field employees not including self.
  • More than 10 full time field employees.

I agree with AZ Gardener, I think that would be a great way to set up a poll, and in addition add part time solo.

actually lawnsite needs to make different categories addressing this...i was thinking about this the other day...i'm a solo operator...the big companies with several employees often offer advice but their way of doing things is completely different than what someone doing it solo would do...so you end up getting different answers and arguing over things because the way you do business is totally different from each other...would be nice to have one section for businesses that have crews of people and another for the smaller businesses that are solo or only have 1-2 employees

personally I would want to hear everyone's angle regardless of their operation, then it's upto me to diciphere and apply to my company, which is a corporation with two employees.

yeah i hear ya but it just causes confusion sometimes since people don't mention how big their business is when they respond to questions and they fail to see the point of view of a smaller business so they react like man you are nuts!!! lol

I think it would be great to set up this site with size of operation. That would be like me comparing and talking shop with our solo engine repair/dealer/salesmen/tech operation where I get my mowers from VS going to a JD dealership where there are more mowers than tractors and they have a department just for the mower/landscape guy. SIZE!

all good ideas fellas, and potential ideas for another poll, but I really started this to see how many people in general are actually in the industry. another thread sparked my interest in this because of people making comments that contradicted themselves. I'm sure if you did a little digging you would be able to tell what I was looking at. maybe its just me, but I tend to value people opinions when they know what they're talking about
