Exmark Lazer Z Hydraulic leak

I have an Exmark Lazer Z 52" with a Kohler. I got it stuck in the mud today and was going forward and backward trying to rock it out of the holes that I created, but with no success. Ended up pulling it out with a come along cable wench. I started mowing again and noticed the mower starting to struggle to turn and then I lost all forward and reverse. I noticed the fluid leaking out of the cap. I let it cool down and then ran it up on my trailer. Does anyone have any suggestions on what would cause this to happen. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no expert but it sounds like you overheated the hydro fluid. How long were you doing that forward/backward thing? I'd change the fluid. Hopefully you didn't do any serious damage.
