Replacing a 27 Kohler Command w/Generac 33

That sounds like bad news. I think my Generac engine warranty was for 2 or 3 years, no matter how few hours. If anything happens to mine that requires replacement, I'll look into replacing it with a 35 HP Briggs Big Block. But back to yours, it sounds like a manufacturing defect. Why wouldn't the manufacturer want to fix that problem and avoid the bad PR?

These guys are right. Generac 33, great engine. Can replace the Kohler. The wire-harness is only available through a Generac or Dixie dealer. Everything else should line up given the correct specs.
