show me the koi!

Its been a very interestn year to start off with the record amounts of rain we have gotten. I got a call from a customer to do a cleaning and asked if i wanted any of the fish in exchanged for the our services. He stated he had a mixtured of koi and goldfish and that he had way to many 80 plus to be exact at his count lol.. So i said that i would be interested in the koi if they were decent looking fish. I go out to his place expecting little fish 10-12" size but boy was i stunned lol. The smallest koi was 18" and the largest was 31/2 feet and there wasnt just a few there was 80 koi and 3 goldfish. Needless to say I am the proud owner of 60 plus koi both standard and butterfly. What a year lol..

That many 'Lunkers' are going to go through some food. I turn down large fish quite often. No market here for large Koi because most ponds are already overcrowded and the new installs like to watch the 'babies', such as Keith has, grow up. Saw your post on FB. Good luck in moving them.

New installs? What are those? Ponds are drying up around here for some reason. I should change my name to St. Louis Waterfalls, since that is all we build these day's. I have a cleanout coming up that is going to be a hassle with about 50-60 koi and a ton of muck/mulch in the bottom and the 100ft stream. So I'll have a ton more Koi to weed out.

It's only a hassle if you aren't charging enough.

A 'Pile of Muck' equals a 'Pile of $$$$$'.

I agree to a point, but this pond is just a mess the way it's built and all the muck and a tight customer equals headache.
