I have an 2009 Wildcat and I don't know if Scag changed anything on the new Wildcats but back then I went with the Wildcat so I could get the 26hp LC kawasaki motor, the suspension seat, and the adjustable hand control position levers. I thought the Wildcat was a bit beefier over-all.

I just bought a 61" Tiger Cat SS with the 27hp Kohler. I inquired about the Wildcat and was told by my dealer that it is being phased out because it is so close to the Tiger Cat. The differences between the Wildcat and the Tiger Cat are:
1. Different engine options including LC on the Wildcat with the air cooled 27hp Kohler being the top offering on the 61" 2. Suspension Seat (SS) package available on the Tiger Cat instead of the soft ride seat 3. Adjustable levers on the Wildcat 4. External hydraulic oil cooler on the Wildcat 5. Flat free (Semi-pneumatic) front caster tires on the Wildcat The frames, drive system, and cutting decks are the same. Here is a link Scag's comparison page. http://www.scag.com/zeroturncomparison.html |

Just went and demoed a Tiger Cub, now a Tiger Cat and what a difference from my Exmark WB, definitely looking into getting a Scag now.

The dealer I went to today had the 48" TigerCat only available with a 19hp Kawi or 26hp Briggs and Stratton.

Is there a reason why you want a 48" or 52"? I was moving from a 48" walkbehind and originally considered a 52" because I thought the 61" was too big. After doing a demo on the lawns that I cut the 61" was fine. With the wider deck I can cut faster and it has a larger deck overhang which is helpful with trimming. The 61" only cost $200 more than the 52" which was a small price for a big difference in cut width. Also in my area the 61" is the most desirable size which helps with resale down the road. Just something to consider. |

Not exactly sure I am looking into buying new, my first idea would be to try to find a good deal on a recently used one.
