I am in love with it as well.

I took it in on Friday to get a crack that had been on it for a long time because I wouldn't be using it the rest of the day. Was supposed to be done today but it wasn't so I had to get by with the CX75. Man what a difference. The thing I miss the most is the reach I have just to grab fill. sand and boulders. Oh well, I will have it throwing boulders again tomorrow morning by 9 am.

We are replacing the Rotobec on the CX75 in the next couple weeks as well, its served its time and is tired. Good piece though

What kind of grapple on the 160? I was watching a guy that had a rake style on a 300. Wow is all I have to say. I got to get me a ring of those keys one day

I know when I talked to Towtem for the TK they made the comment that the grapple isn't just for setting boulders. Could you see any use for the smaller machines with the grapple? I can understand the reach and being able to handle the bigger boulders but their must be some demand for the 10-12,000 pound machines?

You deal with Lano on the grapples? I would love to audition for the CX75 once it has the Towtem.

There's a guy in WA that has a Towtem on his Tak mini. I very well could be wrong but if I didn't specialize in rock walls I'd find the grapple annoying not being able to move a large volume of dirt as quickly as a bucket, especially a clean up bucket.

I wouldn't have guessed that's how you dig with the calm shell.

It's a solid one I guess lol. 72" when opened up all the way and 30" or 32' wide.

I ripped out an evergreen that was 14" in diameter yesterday with the grapple. It snapped it off and dug the root ball out in about a minute. For the size of walls we do and the volume the CX160 is the way to go. Sometimes I wish I had a little larger machine actually when my reach is at its end for the taller walls. With the CX75 we have used the grapple for building demo and loading dumpsters, boulder walls, clearing out smaller trees, it works really well for ripping out tie-walls and walls that have failed. The totem on the 160 is great because I can still move a ton of dirt with it. The only time I put the bucket on is when I'm digging all day in original soil. Last year we demo'd a 4500sq ft house and I loaded 275 cubic yards worth of dumpsters in a day and a half. That included ripping the house down and the foundation and bomb shelter it had. The 160 and 75 we on site for that. Also the grapple works extremely well for peeling up cement and loading it without having to smash it all to hell with a jack hammer and skid.

I can't wait to yank down a house with the towtem on the 160.

We were thinking about getting a CX50 for digging our modular wall base trenches and maybe get a small grapple for that as well. The 10-12k machines could still handle a 2' boulder with relative ease.

We bought our Towtem, Bobcat T770, and an 82" sheepsfoot packer for the T770 from Lano this year. Kurt is a great guy to deal with and always looks for the best and most possible ways to save us money.

It's not so bad. I can switch between the Towtem and the bucket on the 160 in 5-10 minutes now. The quick coupler helps with that a lot and having a spare set of pins so I don't have to swap them is the key. You'd be surprised how much fill you can move with the smaller grapples.

I dig all kinds of ways with the grapple. Depends on if I'm just moving fill or actually digging haha.

New teeth and had the Towtem welded and reinforced. It's pretty beefy now.

I've got some videos uploading, going slow though.

I like that picture of both the excavators together. That would be awesome to do demo with the grapple.

When I got that Rotodarien, we dealt with Joe at Shakopee Lano.

I know it's not a Case CX50 but any interest in a Takkie 153?
