Lime app in August?

The turf company that I use applied lime to my lawn last week. I'm not a lawn expert by any means, but I thought lime was usually applied at the first of the year? We have had several 100 degree days the last few weeks, so I would assume fertilizer would be a bad idea. Is this a common application for this time of year or did I pay for something that I didn't need?

No bad time to lime (if your yard needs it).

In Tennessee you probably needed that lime. Fertilizer and lime are two different things. Did you mean to write that ? The lawn company is getting ready to seed in Sept. That's why they are applying lime now. You can lime year round but it is better if you can water it in the heat of summer.
