4 wheeler & snow plow

I have a company i mow for that wants me to push snow but i use a 4wheeler for neighborhood drive ways the parking lot is bout quarter acre .do any of you push snow with a 4wheeler ??? if so what is the biggest job you do and how do you charge for it ???

Why have you not joined Plowsite?

A quarter acre is a 100 x 100.

3' blade minimum 34 passes.
4' blade minimum 25 passes.

In reality to prevent spill over the total passes will be much higher because you will won't be able to use the full width of the plow. Also plowing passes that long will build up to much snow in front of the plow depending on how deep the snow is. So even more passes.

Before you know it that 25 passes can be 125 passes. So what you thought and bid to be a one hour job can be a four hour job and then you lost your shirt because the equipment is to small for the job.

If you get $60 an hour to do a driveway that is 100' long 10' wide in one hour then the lot should take you 10 hours (not real numbers but done to give you an example) to do a quarter acre lot then you need to charge $600.

Now people on plowsite can point out how long it would take a utv to do this job, and if a plow truck is better suited because it could do the job in half the time.

Stop being lazy and register on plowsite.

I agree join plowsite. I am a member on both. I used my 700 Polaris Sportsman with a 60" Glacier II setup. It worked great for the 3 years I have used it. Last year I bent the mount for it. It worked great doing residential drives. But I did a commercial lot. It took forever to get it all done and it was a lot of stress on the mount. This year I opted to buy a Jeep and I am going to use it. IMHO quads are great for sidewalks and residential drives. Steer clear of the commercial lots.

a lot depends on the amount and type of snow you have in your area .

Go for it lol,i was going to put a plow our arctic cat but ill stick with the snowblower and shovel for snow still until i get a plow for the bad boy.

32vld is right on. I use one for my own drive...it takes forever......then you get 12" of snow and you're pretty much screwed.

Last year I was out with my deere 1445 and 60" blower with around 20" covering the drives some places a lot deeper not to mention what was there from the city plow. A guy pulls up with a 4 wheeler and plow. It took him more than hour for a two stall garage and never shoveled. I was done in 10-15 mins including clearing snow from doors and walk way. It may be faster somewhat on small snows, but what is that any more?
