I think from what I had seen in the past the gap in prices between what some places in NE charge and other was substantial. Checking Lite Source and others will likely save you some coin.

Back in the incandescent days we used the magic box on a daily basis. But now days with LEDs, we've had very little luck getting a set that is out working again. About 1 in 10 times it will work, but the set seems to go out within a few days after that. We've also noticed that when we surge the set it puts a lot of strain on the inline rectifier and sometimes will blow the rectifier out.

LEDs are great, but they are not nearly as servicable as incandescent lights. We've seen a noticable inprovement in LED quality over the last few years and those of us who asssit with supplying the industry have learned the hard way what factories to stay away from.

Your best bet is to make sure you are buying Pro or Commercial Grade garlands and lights which will minimize the outages, but even then there's always going to be a few sets that go out and it seems to happen on the most critical jobs just before a big event.
