I have an older FS85 trimmer that I have had for well over 4 yrs. It has been problem free.

I use the unit 6 days a week, bout 9 yards a day.
Is this a commercial unit, or a "homeowner" unit? Actually, for either, it does seem out of line, but especially bad for a commercial unit. Did you buy it new, and have you had the dealer check it out? Are you using the correct fuel mix? Sometimes you can get premature clutch failure if you consistently trim with the unit at low rpms.

Hope some of this helps.
