Exmark Metro 48 won't shut off

I have a 98 Exmark Metro 48 w/ 15hp Kohler. The mower runs great, but the only way to get it to stop running is to shut off the fuel. We have checked all the wiring and everything seems to be okay. Any suggestions on where to begin would be very helpful.

You should be able to fix it pretty quick with the parts manual. It includes the wiring diagram and it's super simple. You can find it here:

Thanks, we have looked at the manual several times and have checked all the wiring to make sure none of the wires were broken and that they were all properly connected. We have even tried running a jumper from the kill terminal on the coil directly to ground and it still won't shut off. My fear is that the coil is not working properly. I just hate to spend $52 on a new one if it isn't broken.

If the magneto wasn't working properly it wouldn't run but...

If you cannot shut the engine off by grounding the ignition at the kill terminal on the magneto then there is a problem with the magneto. R&R the magneto.

Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.
