40 amps is way too small a breaker for a motor that draws 36-37 amps at full load. Room for the starting surge is not there. By the way, is this just the motor, and no control box for same?

Given the dollar cost, it's obvious that the TECO items here are not just a simple power relay plus an ice cube interface. It has to be something more like a control center, and not like the contactors I found a photo of. You can find TECO specs and photos at http://badgerbadgerbadger.com/

Does this help?

This is from a 15HP 3 phase I installed. The PSR (Shneider/Telemecanique Electric) is on the right and directly below it is an ice cube relay controlled by a Hunter clock (24 V master valve relay). This station monitors, voltage, amperage, flow, temperature, vacuum, etc.

The one I just installed is similar other than it's a single phase without the fancy sensors.

If anybody really cares, as soon as I find the USB cable to the digital camara, I'll post the pictures of the Teco installation

That's kind of what I was looking for, with the icecube standing in for the switch on the case of a motor control box.
