I am currently doing the same thing. I'm using door hangers, flyers and a new website. So far I have gotten 0 calls.

You should try craigslist in your area too. That's where I've gotten a lot of calls from. Good luck

You should check out doing a direct mail postcard campaign. This is has been a very successful marketing medium for the landscaping industry because you're able to really hone in on your target market. Pairing your direct mail campaign with online activities such as a landing page, etc. will help increase your response and results as well.

If you'd like to see some real-life examples of other landscaping postcard campaigns, take a look at this report: http://goo.gl/39Inv

Val-Pak has been really good for me. I actually bartered for the advertising. I provide lawn maintenance for the owner. The great thing about Val-Pak is I can tailor my ads to the communities I am presently serving, thereby lowering my fuel costs. I get much better results than Yellow Pages, etc.

I can see a lot of companies have things to sell you. I'm trying to build a business to help companies get jobs, but more than try and convince you I just want to learn. As one person mentioned craigslist is free but because it's free I think in bigger cities it's easy to get lost. My idea (and site) is to let customers post their job and then companies bid on it. Complete with aerial views. Free to list your services and once we get off the ground we'll charge some fee ONLY if you win the bid. This is different than most pay per lead site.

More than anything I'd just like to know what YOU would want of a site like this.
