My company currently runs 16 of the Honda HRC216HXA model mower's. They run great and they are more durable than the Exmark's and Toro's. We replaced all of the snapper, Toro, and Exmark 21" mowers with them. Been running them for about 3 years and have had only 1 go beyond economical repair due to a bent crankshaft and a blown up transmission. The rest of them still work great although they can get tempremental if you dont take care of them properly when running gasoline with ethanol through them.
Haven't tried the newest line of Exmark 21" mowers yet since they had been redesigned about a year back but I also haven't heard anything all that amazing about them yet either. |

You might check out Gravely if you haven't. Looks like the Classic and the Pro are running the Kawasaki engine. The Classic offers both straight front axle or casters. I'm not sure what makes the Pro so much more expensive.

No I don't believe so. I think it's the same as the Classice which is infinitely adjustable with a top speed of 4 mph and about 3.8 on the pro. It doesn't have a conventional transmission but works on the same principle as a commercial snow blower with the two trans wheels perpendicular and the one has a friction material on the contact surface. Mechanic at the shop tells me it's the simplest most bullet proof system he has worked with yet. I have the same idea on my Ariens Pro 1336 DLX snow blower and these things get abused. Constant pressure pushing dead weight of the unit that's 36" wide on the ground plus the snow that your pushing/feeding. |
