Buying first ztr

I am looking at buying my first ztr ride on mower. Right now i just have a 36" bobcat walk behind and i want to get a ztr so i can do larger properties. Looking for tips on buying one. Is it better to buy a used one from a private owner or is it better to get a new one through a dealer and finance it? Any tips are greatly appreciated.
