Grass Seed: Under hard soil
I've recently aerated, fertilized and over seeded my lawn. Areas where I needed to grow new grass I covered with straw. Overall my lawn is comign in nicely. Even the area convered in straw. I've convered one area with peat moss and tried to water frequently. I just came back from a trip and the soil with the peat moss is now hard. Is there anyway to save the seed I planted in this area? Can I lightly rough up the dirt and now cover with straw? Or do I have to start from scratch. Any advice/recommendations is greatly appreciated.
Thank you |

Thank you so much. I was fearful of that. I live in Illinois and the weather has been cool almost all Spring(40-50's). How can I tell if I missed the germination window?
