Applying Fertilizer

Do you apply fertilizer/ironite right after cutting? And do you water your customers lawn, or just apply when rain is expected

I don't mow all my fert clients so I can't always control that. You can apply most fert after mowing.

I ask my clients to water but most of my fertilizer products won't burn so it can't wait a week until rain.

Milorganite can be applied any time and is released as it's watered, because it is organic, not salt... never burns... the iron is cheaper in Milorganite than Ironite so for me it is a no-brainer...
Now that I know that clay's texture(platelets) has nothing to do with water infiltration, percolation, or drainage
,,, I wonder what does...

For lawns I have to mow I've been going with lower slow release nitrogen fert 14% and high in iron and sulfur for a nice dark green up with out fueling an insane amount of spring growth.

I've been experimenting with ironite and I'm not all that impressed...? Maybe it just me and the turf I've tried it on....?

So back to the original it the fact of high nitrogen fert fast release that burns vs a slow release vs sulfur coated urea of a low nitrogen number....?

My organic and organic based products I use concern about immediate watering.

I do wonder about my 14% slow release high iron and sulfur fert i was planning on putting down today...?
