hustler super z won't start

I have a super z with the 37 kawi with approx 80 hrs on it. When the engine is cold it will not start. It is at the dealers for over 5 weeks now, the starter was swapped, the valves adjusted, new battery etc. When you try to start it the machine will backfire so loud you need to cover your ears when turning it over. I am very frustrated with the whole thing and want nothing to do with this motor, I love the machine though. Am I wrong in demanding a new engine and has anybody ever had a machine stuck at a dealer for five plus weeks? I am glad I found this site very informative.

I have a 2011 super z and had the same problem. They tell you to start the engine with the throttle half way or a little more than halfway with the choke on of course. Now I open up the throttle almost the whole way then when it starts back down for about 30 seconds. I hope your dealer gave you a demo model to use while your machine is there for 5 weeks. If not, I wouldn't buy off of that dealer again.

Yes I have emailed Hustler and will start calling on Monday, it is time to take matters into my own hands. Yes they gave me a beater loaner but I put the stripe kit and the flex forks and rear anti scalp wheels on in the winter and I haven't even got a cut in. What exactly is the automatic choke fault? Thanks Dan V

and we went through there whole starting procedure and it didn't do anything but backfire. It doesn't matter if it's full throttle no throttle full choke half or no choke, the bloody thing justs backfires
