my 27 hp (old rating) Kawi uses about a gallon an hour.
Tire pressure is super important. Check it daily. I run mine about 12 -13 psi My dealer changed my Hydro oil at 75 hours for me. He used Mobil 1 20w-50. I think I actually called Gravely first and they recommended it but I can't recall for sure.

At the end of the week I will be changing the oil for the first time. Going to use amsoil in everything in this mower even the hydros. They will get amsoil 20W-50.

I tried the Stens high lift flat blades today with bad results. Can not recommend these for the 452 on northern grasses. So far the factory blades have a superior cut. I do want to try one more blade and that is a high lift notched blade. More info and pics of the Stens blade cut can be found on the X-Factor QOC thread.

I replied to the other thread. I think this is what you want to try next. 18" with 5/8 center hole super high lift notched fusion blade. Maybe this blade will be the holy grail for your mower. If not you may just have to use the oem blades. http://www.ebay.com/itm/18-Super-Hig...item35baecfb60 Here is the fusion chart. They have multiple fusion blades that will fit your mower. http://www.mowpart.com/resources/fusionchart.pdf

PSC, have you found a notched, super high lift, fusion blade for your 60" yet. I know you said you've been running stens blades. Also wondered if you noticed a difference between the humped blades vs. the flat with the longer cutting edge? |

Careful on the gas tank thing. I ran one tank out and filled it at the station and I'm only getting approx. 5.6 gallons into a tank so I think Gravely may be exaggerating their capacity. I'm going to recheck things as I go. I won't be too happy if this thing only holds 11 gallons total instead of the 13.4 they advertise, but this also may make the gph look better.

They dont appear to make a super high lift in the size we would need. They do make a rolled foil fusion and a notched fusion in our size. notched http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-EXMARK-103...item27c2f3b1a2 Rolled http://www.mowergeek.com/491-509.html

If that is the case then I used 1.4gph which doesn't seem right for a 31hp kawi. My mower came filled to the base of the filler neck. I would be ecstatic if I was really getting 1.4gph!

I have to wonder how the fuel pick up tube/hose is set up in the tank. I haven't looked yet. Is it possible that the pick up came up out of the lower part of the tank and was hung up higher or is it maybe too short from factory to use all the fuel in the tank. My engine stalled so I switched tanks and kept mowing. I assumed the tank was bone dry as a result. Maybe not. |

I haven't looked either. I hope they changed the material of the tube inside the tank. They used to use a clear tubing with a weighted pickup at the end that has a mesh screen on it. The clear tubing would dry rot and start to crack and break off. Not a huge deal its just a matter of replacing the tubing but aggravating none the less.
