SCAG SW32 - Trouble finding neutral lately...

Getting my Peerless transmission to find neutral these days is getting kinda tricky -

It lies on a very fine line (somewhere in the twilight zone) between R and 1! I can't WAIT to back over my SHINS trying to locate it!

How long has this mower been in service?

Probably need to get dealer to check gear box and linkage adjustments. What what he does if possible, you'll know what to check for next time.

Actually I may have described the problem incorrectly. It goes into neutral just fine, but won't idle without the anti-kill switch depressed.

Even though it's IN neutral, it dies when I remove my hands from the controls.

Are the blades engaged?

Can still be an linkage adjust problem.

No the blades are not engaged. I think it may be more of a problem with the contacts in the tranny that run the kill switch.

A. OPC switch connection on tranny is not connected.
B. The plug to the OPC switch on the tranny is bad
C. OPC switch is bad and needs to be replaced.
D. Problem in the wiring harness somewhere. You"ll need patience and a continuity meter.

Bypassing this OPC switch as well as any other one is nothing short of stupid. It may not happen today, this year or next, but one of these times you'll rip the starter cord and THINK the machine is in neutral and it will take off without you behind it. Been there, done that and the adrenaline rush is not fun.
