What/How to charge?

How are you guys charging for fert/insect/weed apps? Do you charge a per thousand rate or an hourly rate? Also, do you charge a flat rate or do you charge a rate + materials. We only have one guy in town right now, and he is charging a flat rate/1000 (materials are included in his rate). Also, if you are tank mixing fert, insecticide, and herbicide, are you chargin for 3 apps or one?

I do tank mix, do not charge extra.

So if a client has a 1K postage stamp front yard he is charging the same price per K as someone with 5K or 30K.

Small yards cost more to treat IMHO.

How then, do you you charge for insecticide apps? Is that like doing a separate app (even if tank mixed) or do you somehow add that to your $7-9/k rate? I'm trying to get my pricing down so I can get my business plan together for the bank. I know a flat rate would be easier, but I feel like I'm going to be working for free with the price of some of these chemicals and fertilizers.

BTW is there anyway to send private messages on here? I don't want anyone giving their competition an unfair advantage.

38 min. 50 for 5k sq ft. and so on. Your local economy and all it's factors dictate this price but that's what it is around my area.
