how do u take the leap to full time?

I do this part time. or am doing this part time. Theres not enough time to make the kind of money for my other job as well. so say I'm making 40k being a fireman(that i don't want to do anymore) and making 25k pressure washing and spraying lawns. Im working 12-14 hour days and killing myself. but can't grow my business anymore than i have. so how do you take the leap and leave insurance and 40k a year to go full time and lose all that? is it a leap of faith? all help and opinions wanted. thanks!!!

It helps a lot if you start out before you have a family and a mortgage.

You said you don't want to be a fireman any more so you already are leaning towards taking the leap. It's a big step that needs to be done but the planning on the move needs to be perfect. I wouldn't do it a few days from July Id plan on next spring and save up every penny I could from my current job and then make my move. Your going to need to advertize and I suggest doing a lot and making the most of the beginning of the season. Don't just quit your job one day because you hate it. Plan this move very carefully it can be the best decision of your life or it can back fire because you were not prepared.

Id probably slow up a littlie on the lawncare side, that is unless you cant stand to be a fireman.

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal going, were coming into a season ending droubt and that is followed by winter.

Keep on doing what your doing, we all get burned out from time to time

yes i know most people would not take the leap. thats why its hard. if it was easy everyone would do it..... and i do have a morgage and a family haha so theres 2 strikes...yes i know it needs to be planned well and thats why im trying to figure. will it be worth it or not?.... i dunno. that salary and damn insurance hurts to have when you want to move on... no i cant not "stand being a fireman" but i do get tired of missing my 4 year old and 6 year olds stuff.. and i get tired of staying up all night(24 hour shifts) yes its not all the time but sometimes and then working for 10 hrs the next day trying to grow my business... i dont know guys im just kinda in a hard position. I do want to leave. no i dont hate it but i LOVE working for myself. I love success and no matte what i do at FD i get paid the same. But insurance is a big big thing. Maybe ill wait till kids grow up and the wife gets a job... I dont know what to do but i know one thing. At 28 years old (fireman for 10 yrs) working like im working is taking a toll on my young 28 year old body.... I love success and have always envisioned myself as a successful business man. thanks for the advice from all

The problem is if you leave the FF job you will not likley be able to get it back in the event of a business failure or even a slow down.

I spent one year searching and buying good deals on equiptmernt and box truck. Worked like you part time for 18 months. Im full time now my 4th year. Ill be honest if I could land a 40k FF job Id cut my lawncare business in half and do both.

You could find someone to do your work while you work the fire job...you would not profit as much but it would give you a chance to build company while ypu kept steady job with ben's
