Kawasaki Surging RPM's?
Hello,
I have a Kawasaki 19 horse engine. It surges in RPM's and stay's there for a minute or two, then will drop back to normal RPM's. It will do it on start up and random times when I hit the pto. Any ideas on what is causing this?? ![]() Thanks, Calvin

Tear down carb and blow all the jets out and sray with cleaner~
Also check the gasket on the intake where it meets the heads, if worn can cause a surge,...while its idling and surging carefully spray some carb cleaner around the intake gaskets as mentioned...and if the idle goes up there is a gasket leak and needs replacing |

It's probably in the carb but, don't forget the air filter.
Either blow it out real good or simply replace it. The inner filter is easy to overlook if it LOOKS good. Fine dust can clog it without looking obvious.

I discovered the problem last night and there was a wood chip in the bowl below the air filter. No idea how it got in there, I never leave the air filter off for more than a couple minutes to clean the dust and grass off.
Thanks for your help.
