kohler 23 hp fuel consumption

I have a kohler command pro 23 on my toro g3. Its a 48". I filled up my tank with 8 gallons and cut six yards. Some were big. My gas light comes on. So I go to re fill and see how much was used because the low fuel indicator doesn't seem accurate. I re fill and it takes six gallons! six gallons to cut six yards??? Just curious is this normal or not??

I usually get 2 gallon a hour give or take on my Command 23hp. You would love a hour meter and closely check your gph to know your cost better.

I get 2 to 2.5 gph. You need to write down the hours registered on the hour meter or keep up with the exact mowing times with your watch
