Best Kawasaki V Twins 20-37HP air or water cooled?

Of the Kawasaki motors people have owned I am curious as to which big twins you like the best and why. Weather they are of another brand is fine and how do you like water cooled compared to air for the people who have used both.

On paper a water cooled should last twice as long and make more consistent power but is this true considering the extra maintenance required to maintain them.

Thanks for the info.

29 DFI horizontal shaft, plenty of power sips gas compared to any other gas mtr. And I dont like vertical shaft mtrs.

Yaa I have heard a horizontal will outlast a vertical because the crank is bathed in oil completey all the time, what is wrong with a vertical 29 and what kind of gas PH does your 29 get. What about the 26's?

I am just curious about which motors to buy and which ones to avoid. Thanks!

I owned a 27hp LC'd Kawi on my 60" LC'd Lazer. While it was a decent engine with good economy, it wasn't a very powerful engine for 745cc's

Today's big blocks have MUCH more power and torque.

Just noticed that Kawi now offers a 824cc LC'd DFI version. I wasn't aware of this. LC'd is nice, but it does introduce another fluid to change or leak, and they are a bit heavier with the radiator.

They make a 29 vertical 29, I was looking at one today on a Ferrts 3100 which was a real nice mower by the way.

I saw a test and it claimed a Liquid cooled power plant tolerences on piston's and cylinder wall clearences staying tight were like 2 to 1 over a air cooler easy and if you work a air cooler hard the numbers become even higher because a water cooled motor will regulate the mortor to a a certain heat and keep it there in tough conditions where as a air cooled engine will just continue to get hotter and hotter and burn up.

I have also burned engines up running out of coolant,or a pump goes bad so it can be a wash.

TLS how much do the new deck blades help the cut of the XR 7 deck and in what way? you were saying the deck does not get stingers as well with them.

Never really checked it by the hr. Ran a 930 Deere with a 29 vertical Kaw and it used 4.6 gal in 2.1 hrs. I never run my 29 DFI out of gas on any day I mowed, by what the Deere used I should have run out if I had the same mtr sometime around 1-2pm. My 25 Kohler would run out on the same accounts around 1-2pm as well, with the same deck size. Let me put it this way. My son and I cut one day and I was always back on the trailer first with the 25 to start trimming. So the 29 did alot more mowing. At the end of the day on what we mowed the 25 took 4.5 gal and the 29 took 1.5.

Kawi makes a 29hp LC'd vertical shaft?

I had to repair my radiator twice on my LC'd Lazer. It also was developing some sort of coolant leak on the block. Not sure if it was head gasket or some other coolant gasket.

In theory a water cooled should be better, your 28 kohler has been good and good on gas? on Ebay today I could of sworn I saw Kaw 29 liquid cooled on there.

My EFI 28 Kohler has been OK on gas...The big pumps make this engine WORK HARD!

The big blades don't help the power shortage, but make the cut somewhat acceptable.

On a 12-16cc pumped mower, the 28 EFI would be sufficient.
