36 or bigger?

I am 15 and mow 3 yards weekly and am looking to get more for the rest of this season and future seasons. I use a yard machine riding mower and toro self propelled mower. I am looking to get a commercial grade walk behind and wanted opinions on whether to get a 36 inch or larger. Also how much will a walk behind improve my efficiency over a 42 inch rider? I will be purchasing used of craiglists.

I would get the biggest mower that you can effectively put on all of your properties. If gates are an issue, look at what will fit thru all of the gates.

Look at yr budget....if you are on craigslist just look at your local dealers because they also have trade ins. On 36" you can always use that as long as you are cutting yards efficiency wise get a sulky and that will also cut down on your time.

At this point you are making money.

You have more open hours then you spend hours mowing lawns.

So the best thing for you to do is keep your blades sharp. At the start of the season change air filter, change oil and filter and grease or lube what ever needs to be done. Then keep on mowing with what you have.

This is not the time to waste on a mower. Better to get trimmers edger, blower, vac, hedge trimmer, etc to offer more money making services.

Get through the season with what you have and buy off craigslist late next winter. Thats what i did and was able to get my 36" scag for $350. now there is not a single mower similar to mine for below $900. Guys want to sell their stuff in the winter cause they need money and its just sitting around, when spring hits they're using you mowers= increase in price for the same stuff.

Here all of the gates that I've run into are 46in. I run a 41" deck so it fits through with about 2" on each side.

At this point if I were you A few things you might want to do is invest in first is trimmers, saw, wheelbarrow, lawn hand tools, etc before you move up in the mower world. A toro walk behind isnt a bad starter for normal sized yards an just doing even several a week.

Also dont spend it all on a mower, save some for a first truck to start working.

Its not always about speed either its a combination of speed and qauilty of service.
