I own a reel, 20 inch McClane. I have used it once on a portion of my lawn, It looked ok but it killed the high spots. It has been put to the back of my garage for now.

Sod was laid Dec 15th 2011 with new construction. sprinklers installed apirl 25th 2012. Sod laid in sprinkler trenches June 1st 2012.
If it killed the high spots, you are taking off too much blade.

I would put down about 40 of lime before testing again as that would be less than 2/3 of the recommended amount.

no problem with you breaking it up in 2 or 3 doses.

what was the organic levels or did you test that?

I just trimmed them on Tuesday. That pic was taken last August actually. But nothing has really changed other than that I transplanted the two azaleas to the backyard and replaced them with some dwarf gardenias. I also didn't plant any of that sweet potato this year. Geez that stuff grows like crazy. I was pruning it back twice a week.

What do you mean by to much blade. Too low?
