Shindaiwa weed wacker backfiring/not running

Hello everyone I've been running into some problems with my shindaiwa wacker.

First thing in the morning while cold it would fire right up but once it gets hot and shuts off it would take 6+ pulls sometimes more to start. The primer for some reason would lose its pressure after sitting. A couple days ago it got really bad and started backfiring and a bit of smoke would come out next to the air filter and then didn't start at all.

Any idea what this would be? There is a new spark plug in it I switched out the gas filter for a new one, cleaned out the carb porthole and checked the gas line for a possible hole.

I was reading online it could be the fly wheel key or a piston. I'm going to check the fly wheel after work today but i'm unsure where the piston is.

Any help would be awesome here
