Narrowed trimmer down to husqvarna 323L or Redmax 2350

What modifications did you make? It looks like you used a shoulder strap? This unit is lighter than the one mentioned in that thread and hopefully I won't have to change a thing. Was there anything in there that I missed?

Actually, looking at the stats, the two machines seem comparable. Can someone shed light on why I should not lean to the 326ls? I am looking for light weight and nimble for everyday use.

Yeah they are both shaft drive, & identical weights actually.

T35 vs. T35x trimmer head, smart start, & auto return stop switch are the only other differences I can tell. And $20. And a slightly faster engine & power speed with the 323l? Weird.

The 323 and 326 are listed at the exact same weight on their website, but their catalog shows the 326 at 10.4 lbs vs 9.0 for the 323. It may be a misprint in the catalog, or on the website, and it isn't the only one, so I'm not sure which is correct. The 326 does have the skidplate under the engine, but I doubt that it weighs 1.4 lbs. Everything else seems to be very similar except for the fact that the 326 has a hard chromed cylider bore for longevity. For only $20 more than the 323, it seems to be the way to go unless it does weigh the 10.4 shown in the catalog and that makes a difference to someone. The 326 also has a supposedly stronger shaft tube to allow it to deal with being loaded and unloaded from the rack constantly. The faster speed and power isn't what it appears either. The power of the 326 comes on sooner (earlier) so that it doesn't have to work quite as hard to do the same job (more torque, sooner), and should last longer because of less revolutions of the engine over the useful life of the trimmer.

Between the two the OP asked about though, it's Husky all the way.

Forgot to mention the 326 has a heavier duty gearbox, and quick release air box cover also. all stuff geared for longer lasting trimmers with easier/quicker service for commercial guys.

I need the weight thing cleared up. My dealer does not have any 323l in stock. So, I can't go see it. But, I need it to be light. The 9.5 lb or so is what I am looking for. Does anybody know for sure what the weights of these are? Thanks.

I just callled Huqvarna, and they told me that the only info they have there is what is on the website, so that's what they go by. The place I called is 800# which sends you to their US stock distribution center. She said the are not a whole goods place so they can only go by the web just like we have to.

edit-assuming that actually means anything.how weird is it that the only employees companies ever let customers talk to are so far removed from their products?

Thanks for taking the initiative to call anyway. So far that HD gearbox is the most appealing feature among the differences between the two, to me.

I'm tending to believe the actual weight for the 326 is the 10.4 LBS shown in the catalog. I say that because the skid plate, heavier gearbox and stronger shaft tube have to add some weight to the machine.
