How to measure pressure...?

I have a 4000 psi at 4 gpm pressure washer. To raise and lower the pressure there is a knob you turn to raise and lower. What i would like to know is, Can I add a pressure gauge to my set up without hurting anything? If so, where would I add it. Where the hose attaches to the pump or before there?

you can get one that connects right where you hook your hose to the machine

Using the unloader in not the preffered method to lower and increase pressure. Use different size spray nozzles to adjust the pressure.
