Flyer Advertising for Hedge Trimming Right Now

As most of my lawns will be doing good to need cut every 3 weeks right now, and I've finished almost all of my usual bush trimming accounts, I was wondering if anyone's had much success advertising for bush trimming with flyers. I had a real nice flyer made up for this and I though about passing out several hundred in August for work then and in early fall. Anyone had success passing out flyers for that in this drought?

Others might give you better advise but from a homeowner perspective I can tell you that the last thing I'm thinking about this summer is anything outside. Everythings brown and its been too hot to do anything outside. I do wish you good luck though and all the others trying to make a living in lawn care too. I thought about trying to get some lawns this year but have since put it off till 2013.

Had someone come in and do one of my customer's hedges, they didn't know any better, thought we couldn't get to it...
Yet they never called to ask...

Fact is you're not supposed to trim plants neither in the heat of summer nor in the cold of winter.
That's why we didn't do it, because it can (and will) kill the plant, you can Google this.
It's not that we couldn't get to it!

But they gave the job and the money away to someone else.
They never call to ask us first, and now WHEN one of their shrubs die we either have to bail them out OR the other landscaper has some ideas.

They might be making money but it doesn't make it right in my book.

We're on the same track until you let Johnny and the 4 lawn boyz who just pulled up do the work we had planned to do when it was cooler lol

I wasn't trying to trim hedges now, I realize it's not time for that. As I said I'm trying to get work for later on in August if it cools down and in early fall before the leaves come down, as I'll be lucky to mow each lawn once a month if this drought continues. I'm still trying to keep positive as everything's a month ahead this year except to the extreme, so I'm wondering if fall will come unusually early as well.
