They are both two very well built ZTR's with two very different deck designs.

Someone needs to design either a convertible deck (able to switch between open and baffled), or a compromise between the two.

Exmark ultracut is a much better mulching deck than scags velocity deck. But
scag is better at side discharging. There now everyone is happy.

I knew it was only a matter of time before the hecklers came out on this thread. I have had great luck with my Exmarks thus far. I am more concerned with overall reliability and dealer support. The dealer and Exmark have been great while trying to decipher this problem. They were nice enough to take two brand new mowers off the showroom floor for me to use. One being a Walker so I could bag the lawns i needed to and a new 60" Vantage to keep up with production. I know for a fact you would have a better chance of winning the lottery then getting a loaner from the local Scag dealer.

Trust him, he has been in the business a whole 2 years You just can not comprehend the vast knowledge he has as a 20 year old boy.

But...but...with two (2) BR600 back-pack blowers, he'll just blow you away with both tubes!

You pretty much get what you pay for.

Most of your big manufacturers are close enough on price to make it not be an issue for me.

Ummmm, no, not around here. A Exmark Lazer Z X with a 29HP of some sort runs about 11,500.00. Last year i bought a Ferris IS3100Z with a 30HP Vangaurd for 9500.00. My mower has full suspension, a hydro cooler and some real fabrication. Not a bunch a sheet steel ran through a laser and a brake. Did i mention it was 2K less.
