Hustler Super Z 28hp Kohler starter removal

Can someone please explain to me the most efficient way to remove the starter on the Super Z 28hp Kohler EFI. Thank you.

This post is a few days old... not sure if you already removed the starter.
There is no special trick to it really, its very tight to get the bolts out, once out you can slide it through the bottom of the engine deck / frame.

To the OP'er....

I'm not sure what your reason is for removing your starter....

Myself and others have had starting issues with this era machine.

There is a starter assist kit that is available from Hustler that basically uses a heavier gauge wire directly to the starter.

This instantly corrected my starting issue. Many people replace batteries, starters, key switches, and more to fix this issue. When all they needed to do was install this part for under $30.
