I have to disagree. It is a well known fact that all plants and sod love chlorine water and cleaning chemicals.

Yes, I agree Diamond. I had a customer once decided he was not going to spend money on a pool service right after purchasing his brand new pool. I am not sure what he did when he drained the pool but a couple pallets of sod later he had a pool service.

Seriously bare feet, exposed skin and thorns? Beach balls, rafts, etc and thorns?

I'd pull them and install something appropriate next to a pool, even if they do look perfectly healthy.
