I use to run and still own a 16ft batwing finsh mower pulled it with a 4600 ford tractor its 52-54 hp tractor with turf tires on it geared it down so I ran high 2nd open areas in tight areas high 1st
I could mow at rate of 5-7 mph avg 5-6 acres per hr this depend on how tall grass is and you couldnt skip week either

We have a mid 2000 model kubota 90 HP, so I would guess it rides better than most older ones. I couldn't imagine bush hogging over 5-6 MPH with it. That's all i can compare since we don't mow with it. It has an air ride seat too but you can't go very fast off of a road without bouncing to death.

Can they mow at 10+ sure as long as its smooth and flat. I am running a 3320 with a air ride seat and if optimal I can run at 5+ but for the most part I am not will to tear my hog and tractor up to finish 10 min faster.

These guy's had new tractors, one was a MF and the other was a Kabuta. These were 50 to 60 thousand units with 90HP or so.

So you guys say 8 to 9 MPH is not likely in 2 week to a month old summer grass? these were units with the spinner style blades on a big hub.

They said the 15 FT wings they were using were awsome units.

O bushhogging thats different story
I have one those 18ft to get a good cut you have to go slow pull mine with 7740 ford 86hp
first cut for season during wet part I be lucky hit 5mph

I think 1,000 rpm bush hogs mows pasture grass better then the 540 rpm bush hogs
I own both models 540 pulls easier vs 1,000

The issue is how fast can you go, 10 MPH sure but you **** is going to break and fall apart. Its not HP issue a 90 HP tractor could do it yes.

if its sling blade model its a bush hog design for rough cut but some do try mow turf grass with them

my batwing has 3 60'' decks just like a lawn mower
mine will flex more then a sling blade type batwing
