Kubota ZD331 Rear Main Seal

I actually got factory recall on mine and took it in to the dealer and they replaced it and never had a minutes problem!! No charge

That is interesting. Perhaps mine were fixed BEFORE the recall went out. What year is your mower and how long ago did you get the recall?? Thanks for the info!!

Thanks for the information.
I am going to take mine to the dealer sometime next week.
The warranty is only good for 2 years and mine is about 3 1/2 years old. I use it for my property only and it only has about 400 hours on it. Even though it has low hours I don't think they will cover it.

Took the 331 to the dealer to fix the leaking rear main. Turns out there were 3 bolts that hold the rear main seal housing broken off flush with the engine block. The mechanic was able to remove the broken studs without too much trouble. It looked to me like they were over torqued during the assembly, the mechanic agreed. The seal was a little sloppy on the shaft. Mechanic ordered new seal gaskets and all new bolts.
I am going to contact Kubota and see if they will help me out on the warranty. The warranty is only good for 2 years, which has passed. The mower only has 320 hours on it so maybe they will have mercy on me and cover it. I will post results.

Good luck Donald. The kubota rep in my area has always been pretty receptive so hopefully they help you out. Clearly this is a manufacturing problem that MUST be dealt with.

Did you guys ever get the seal leak issues resolved? Did Kubota cover it?

My 331 now at only 297 hours has developed the same rear seal leak. Dealer tells me sorry, your machine is out of warranty. They do have a TSB on it but no recall according to them.

Dealer and factory blew me off even though I was just over 300 hours. Cost me about 650.00 to get it repaired. Lost a lot of respect for Kubota. Not sure I will purchase another Kubota product.

I know they honor alot, but more if u have a record of buying them.they have honored repairs far out of warranty for us, having bought over 10 of their tractors and mowers.

I would fight it if it were me. Less than 300 hours is nothing for a machine like these. Both my dealer and Kubota was very helpful in replacing mine. My warranty was still "in" though.
