Scag Turf Tiger noise when I engage deck.

I am having a problem with my TT. It is a 06? 61" advantage deck and today it started making this horible noise when the deck is engaged. I undid the belts and spun the drive shaft by hand and I can feel it binding. I greased everything and checked the oil in the gearbox. I topped off the gear oil and spun the driveshaft again, it felt better but is still making that horible noise. It only has 390hrs on it. Any Ideas?

Remove driveshaft and start blades. If you still hear the noise, it is probably the rear deck drive spindle bearings. If you don't hear the noise, you know it is the gearbox or something on the deck.

Might be the clutch bearing. What did you find out?

You can rebuild the gearbox. I dont remember the name of the manufacturer but it is casted on the outside of the box itself. You can order new bearings and seals for it . I did it and its pretty easy

The seal number from Scag is 481651. I usually just use Timken bearings when I rebuild a gearbox. Should be able to get the number off of the bearings once you break the gearbox apart.

Bought a Timken BT100 bearing set from a local auto parts store and we are good as new.
