Both chains on our 26 have been maxed out on adjustment for a season or so.
Do I need to replace or can I have links removed? TBob?

Chain's stretch, replace them and be done with it.

Inspect the chain to see how badly it is worn. If not worn to bad just remove some links and keep on truckin..

One way to check your chain for wear is to lay it on a flat surface and pull it out to max length. Measure... then push it all together and see how much shorter it gets. If worn replace it chain is not that much compared to a day of down time..
