Collections ?

So I have a customer that has been giving me the run around about with collecting on an invoice for June and now July.

She did sign a contract that my attorney made up for us.....so I'm covered as far as that goes. I also have all emails stating she would pay.

Ive never had to send anyone to a collection company, the attorney or small claims. So here is my question....collection company will take the account they add 40% percent of the balance for their fees. If they don't collect there is no charge to me as the business owner. But I guess that's what I'm worried about. If there gonna slack on it forever and not collect anything. I understand these things take time but id still like to see money sooner that later of course.

Or should I

File in small claims court. Cost me $60.00 up front but I'm told that amount is added to what she owes.....seems like it would be faster doing this and it would sure freak me out if i got served papers by the sheriff with a court date. The collection company I'm sure would do the same but I'm just wondering if it would take 6 months to get it there after calling her and bothering her to pay.

Or have the attorney deal with it....but I figured he would do the same thing with filling papers with small claims.

The whole thing really frustrates me.....ugh. Any advice would be great.

It depends on what "the run around" is.

Elaborate.

I would have made a little scene at the Best Buy. More precisely my wife would have made a larger scene.

What you do is give her a firm deadline, if I don't receive by such and such a date then I have no choice but to take you to small claims court which will, in the long run, cost you far more money.

Stay away from the lawyers and collection agencies and do it yourself.
