Sthil Kombi

Hello guys
For those of you who have used it, what do you think about the stihl kombi?
it is a engine with many different attatchments. some users have reccomended it.
I would be intrested in getting it for a string trimmer, hedge trimmer, and blower. Possibly the mini culitvator (mini roto-tiller).
Please let me know
thanks alot

I have a KM 90 with the string trimmer, edger, tiller, and brush cutter.

The brush cutter I use mostily for long grass/green fleshy weeds/and small soft brush. Ideally for yearly ditch maintenance. The tiller kind of sucks. I would definately step up a size next time. Though I don't even use the tiller on a weekly basis, just for my fathers garden.

We just got a KM 130, with line trimmer, hedge trimmer and pole saw. Works great, planning to get edger also for a back up.

I have the km 110 with the string trimmer and articulating hedge trimmer attachments. It has had plenty of power to handle anything I have put it up against. The attachments are easy to change and fairly quick. I have no experience with the blower attachment, however I would suggest getting a dedicated blower with more power instead.

hello swampy
by tiller, do you mean the "mini cultivator"? what is wrong with that one? i was thinking to use it to mix soil ammednments, compost, leaves, etc... into existing soil

so you all think the blower wouldnt be powerful enough?

thanks alot

The "mini cultivator" is the same gearbox attachment that comes on the bottom of the Yard Boss. That machine uses the 55 size motor, and has plenty of power to till as deep as the tines will allow. It's not a question of power, but rather of balance. With the motor right over the gearbox, the Yard Boss's weight pushes down on the tiller, making it easier to work. On the opposite end of a stick, the motor's weight just makes things difficult.
Some people here have expressed opinions that they liked it for mixing up compost. YMMV.

The blower is kickass! Really. I have a KM-110, and the blower easily outpowered my BG-85. They say that with the KM-130, you get even more power out of it.

Km 110

I have the KM 110 power unit, and have the edger, articulating hedge trimmer, and pole saw for now. I also have an extension, but this baby is difficult to control with a heavy attachment w/extension. Use the hedge trimmer & pole saw mostly to date. Plan on getting a string trimmer attachment next month (mostly as a backup), and possibly the tiller next spring. The unit works great and wish I had gotten it earlier. If I had it to do over, I would probably go with the KM 130 for the additional power.

I have the carbon extension. I too find it can be difficult to control, but it is manageable.
Not really a problem with the pole saw, which I could see using the aluminum extension with too, but the hedge trimmer wants to get away from you on the extension, and I really couldn't imagine handling that one with the added weight of the aluminum extension.
