I lied.... they are serial numbers 00074 and 00075. I think that we had 00019 and 00020 somewhere out there but I can't find them. These were Rain Bird's first entry into the fully electronic controller market. These controllers were built, by hand in Irwindale California, not far from their current CA headquarters in Azusa. All of their controllers were built there in that facility until the early 90's when they moved the controls group to San Diego and the controls manufacturing facility to Mexico. That crappy brown first version of the ESP was one of the first controllers that they built in Mexico. The CIC, CRC, RCM and ISC all shared a common architecture and were very very well engineered and built controllers for their time. Somewhere I have a prototype ISC that was taken out of the field. I'll have to look around for that one too.

yeah.... I've got some expensive things left over from when I was repairing controllers.... The Fluke shown below is one of my favorites.... it was the most expensive damn volt meter that I ever purchased but boy is is accurate!

I suppose you'd almost want a storage scope for the modern controller repairs.

![]() I once tried out a Rain Bird HP series controller.... 12 stations. It was an oddball. Made in France as I recall. Discontinued. Haven't seen another ever. The terminal strip was numbered right to left. Tiny LCD display. http://www.rainbird.com/documents/diy/man_HP.pdf

The crazy thing is that they discontinued the HP here in the US and then brought it back a couple of years later. It was one of their worst controllers IMO....
