Not that kind of stress...mental stress, I thought my problem was from work, turns out it was stress. I'm not saying that's your problem, but either way reducing the amount of stress in your life is very helpful in more ways than just your body.

RMI, are very common in the business. Stretching before work will help. Just remember
if you go to a chiropractor you will go for the rest of your life. Adjustments and treatments will be the rule hence forth. There are other treatments available.
I would recommend googling repetitive motion injuries and various treatments and options available.

The last two weeks I have had a sciatic nerve problem from my lower back to the bottom of my left leg. I can't sit down without terrible pain. Driving is the worst. From what I gave read there is not much I can do about it. My father said when he was my age he had it for 6 months.

i use a gravity inversion machine, works well.

best of luck with the back

Someone recommended one of these to me a couple years go when I pulled a muscle in my back a few years ago. I have been using it since. Whenever I tweak my back working, I get on the inversion and work it out.

Stretching and posture are so important, if you don't get that right,now, then no doctor is going to fix you in the future.

My back is always straight when I dig...

I rarely Dawg dig with my back hunched over anymore...It's not as fast but I prefer to kick the shovel in my sweet sand..

And I do switch sides when I dig... Just not as much as I should..

A good buddy of mine played drums well into his seventies, he claimed going to the gym twice a week kept him in shape. I also played drums in my youth and through college. A friend called and asked me to help out with his band as the drummer was out of town. Cool, I'll be there, drank a lot of beer, played my ass off, though the chops had diminished over the years, but had a great time, and even did some solos. The next day, I woke up, and COULD NOT MOVE A MUSCLE.

You should be a lead by now but I know how it is, I can't stand watching someone that has no clue on how to dig. I have to jump in and try to show them how to dig a narrow trench. They always dig too wide and throw the dirt where it's hard to backfill.
