I would topdress only when daytime temps don't exceed 90 degrees and we are getter rain. In my opinion the best time is in June when it rains, temps are warm enough from Bermuda growth and you have plenty of time for lawn to recover. July would be ok if you can irrigate.

Think i am going to try in early june next year in my backyard with about 2 yards of sand just to practice and get my method down correctly. Then I will attempt the front yard in about 3-4 sections. I have a little more than 8000sqft and I ama single man operatin so I am going to have to break it up. The only thing that is killing me is I am going to have to pay for multiple delivery fees for the sand to come.
