Walker Mower Question

I know the Walker Mowers are know for their cut quality on manicured lawns. How well do they work and stand up to use on what I call a yard - a little rougher and not as well landscaped lawn?

depends on your level of neglect . I own alot of walkers At my hous i have a 16 hp witha 48'' its a 1 acre lot i cut it every 3rd week NO irrigation or 10 days 2 week if its rainning . i cut it 2 times(different ways at 4'' then 3.5'' it has 1000 hours on it i bought it new in 1998 and besides replacing the engine last year and one gear box its just old and tired . but dependable . for commecial work dont cut over 2 weeks of growth of the ammount of clippings will kill you on the dumping the motor is all that takes the beating overall the frame is ok with rough the cut is the same reguardless of height . the engine may bog if it does your killing it slowly (this goes for all mowers though ..... get a side discharge deck its the same as many others and will be fine

I own a lawn care company and have loved the walkers. in fact thats all i use. the cut on well manicured lawns is phenomenal. a good chunck of my accounts are the "ok" lawn as you mentioned and the cut is basically the same. i also mow some 1/2-1 acre areas of native grass that is tall and thick. the mower handles the incredably rough native grass areas, me, not so much but i deal with it. the only thing i could ask for is a better seat but im not going to pay for it.. i would recomend nothing but walker. it is definatly a heavy duty machine. hope this helped

The ride sucks as your feet are sitting on the mower deck instead of isolated on an operators platform. Walkers are best on SMOOOOOTH lawns....

That's why all my walkers have suspension seats what a difference

Yup, $700 seat makes a world of difference but that doesn't help your feet bouncing up and down on the mower deck.

Because of the size of lawns i do i run a Grasshopper. http://www.lawnsite.com/showpost.php...91&postcount=1 If i had a bunch of 15,000 sq ft or under lawns that where smooth i might consider a Walker or Navigator although working on them is a BYACH compared to the Hopper and i do all my own work on my equipment........
