ST Augustine

I have a dumb question, is the seed St Aug available or can you only get it in sod? My yard has about a 1.5 acre area that the St Aug never seems to get across. If I could find some seed I want to scratch up the area and broadcast the seed. Whats hard for me to understand is the back of my yard is absolutely gorgeous for 250yds and then it starts to fade out with some kind of grass that hardly grows at all but it stays green just really short and never gets tall.

One more question, I live in southwest Louisiana and during the winter/spring time I get alot of clover growth, how do I prevent clovers from growing?

Never seen seed. Try plugging if you want to save money. You can pull plugs from your own yard so you have the same type.

St. Augustine does not grow from seed, the seed heads you see growing (sometimes) are sterile

What is something that is similar to ST aug that I could seed? Really don't want to mess up the back of my yard by transfering plugs from it and plus I don't know how to do it.

You will not mess it up. You can find them in the garden center of most hardware stores with a garden center.

You moisten the ground some, now real wet... regular irrigation should do it.

You pull a plug from the target area and one from the sod and swap them.

It is a tool you step on and it cuts a 2" or so plug.




There is nothing similar but you could try bermuda but now is not the time to seed. Try April.
