Need your advice.
I am currently mowing a gas station. They have been paying me $75 per mow and debris removal which in my opinion is already too low for that lawn size and shape. However, they are trying to get me to mow more grass or an extended area for the same price. I have been mowing for about 9 months now and have about 8 mowing accounts. Should I let this go and move on or tough it out. If so how should I approach the situation?

Since they want you to do more I would use that as a reason to up your price. Raise it enough to cover the additional area and to make it more accurate for existing area you underbid. If they do not want to raise price let them go give them few weeks notice or if you have to finish out season then drop them. Learn from your mistakes cause estimating is often learned best from experience and trial and error.

Just mow it these kind of guys are always looking for a cheaper price and if you try going up you will be gone. Is that what you want?

They do not need you.... people like us are a dime a dozen.
We need to make enough money to keep going, pay bills and maybe even buy something we do not need every once in a while. Not being a wise guy, just saying You gotta bill what you need to! If they are a thorn in your side.... bill accordingly for that too! Life is short and misery is optional. I have one BIGG for me ... commercial property I just picked up this year. Hardly break even on it. Mow once a month and it is a boar's nest!!! But it is close to home, they pay on time, and I have not that much else going on. Iv'e told others what I'm mowing for hoping they would come in and do it for less cause they don't know any better. |

I was going like "huh?" When you said only $75 for that. If i bagged with by 60inch i would be in and out in under a hr. So I think you just don't have the equipment for this price.

Agreed. 18,000 SQ FT isn't that much to do, even at an hour that's pretty decent coin!
