I already have the insert in and I won't be going on the road with it loaded down just the insert and sides. If I don't have the insert I will be unloading buy hand atleast 20 loads of chopped up leaves.

No they didn't drop me, I had helper springs on the truck to help level out the load, and the tractor is a B3200 that weighs empty 1964lbs..... all within the limits of the truck a lot lighter than a dump bed insert loaded into the back of a truck. The problem was all that weight was pushing on the truck and it didn't have anywhere to go so the pawl inside just snapped from the tension and took off. Just remember what you said above "you have to be very careful when using a half ton passed its limits..."

I'm amazed at the number of 1/2 trucks I see around here pulling 5th wheel campers and the such.

Air bags you can adjust per load which makes it real nice..I have them on my dually and love them I never sag and have had a good deal of weight on it at times handles great when you do not need them you can let the air out and maintain factory ride if you choose to...there is your answer Air bags...get the gauges as well you can adjust as you go down the road for ride comfort ..
