This Scag owner is here, and this is some funny stuff. Gave me a good laugh before I went to bed.
Anyone here who would like to give Gary Hendrix Grounds Supervisor for Texas A&M Commerce down the road from me feel free to contact. His number is public info on their website. 903-886-5759 They ran GH for a while, and they have been running the over rated brand for probably the last 5 years. They mow a few acres I'm sure he can give you a good comparison in the 2 machines.....Hahahaha Posted via Mobile Device |

I'll start by saying I'm a Scag guy,I have 6 of them. Don't let anyone tell you they are overrated. There are several good quality mowers on the market and everyone has their own opinion. When someone says it's difficult to change Scag blades, it's obvious they have never done it!
If you can remove a nut off a blade bolt, the blade comes off.If you like the GH I'm sure you will be happy with a new one. If not, go look at a Scag. The dealer I use in Memphis is excellent and to me that's as important as the mower brand.Scags are great mowers and in no way are they overated.

im pretty open minded when it comes to using brands but i switched from exmark to scag and love my scag. I was acutally talking to a friend and fellow landscaper today and we were both raving about scag. There built very well easy to maintain cut awesome with no striping kit I will run scag zero turns for the for see able future. I would try and demo a scag turf tiger and see if you like it because no matter what any of us say it has to suit your operation and make sure that you like it good luck

If you are thinking of buying a scag that usaully means you are not all that happy with what you have or want to try something new. I have scags, a
Wright, and a Dixie. Night and day is the best way to put it. Never been on a GH so I can't compare but I'm sure they are good machines too or they wouldn't be in business. In the end they all cut the grass just get what works for you. Try all you local dealers brands to get what works for you. |

Scag does suck really good when it comes to picking up leaves. It actually cuts grass pretty good too. To the OP. I'd go with a GH since you already have the same model and have another mower from the same brand. Only if you plan on swapping out all your mowers, I'd go with Scag. Yes, I own a Scag and it's been a very good mower for me. |

Mowers can fall into the same category as the "Ford & Chevrolet" scenario, the same as some people like black, while others prefer white. This does not mean one is actually all that much different than the other; it only means it's that much different to the person than owns and loves the machine he or she is well satisfied with.

my boos has both 335 grasshopper and the scag TT with the 35hp vanguard motor on it. he like the scag way better because of the handlinging and the way it cuts and discharges the grass. the mower never clumps no matter how tall or thick the grass is. from now on he will own only scag

Pick a color......
I have narrowed it down to Scag or GH myself. Both seem to do well on the grass I cut. Both have good bagging systems. A diesel frontmount is hard to beat IMO. Good luck . |

try out a scag, they aren't for everyone, i thought about switching from scag to exmark, so i demoed a 60" mower and i will admit, it has a slightly better cut quality, the factory strip is more pronounced then a scags, but the deck feels weightless to me and the operators area was too short for me, other then that it was a nice machine, but my cheetah that i bought is a decent amount more productive, which is just as important as quality, and scag builds mowers to last for years, alot of people around me have scags that are 8-9 years old still mowing 4-5 days a week. also the cut quality on the scag is only a hair worse then the exmark its so close the homeowner can't even notice it. they only noticed the different stripe. but try out the scag and see if its for you, you might think the control levers are weird and the hydros don't feel right compared to your deere which i personally have never used so i can't say much about them, but scags are built to last, and the velocity plus deck is what everyone is trying to imitate.
