Rainbird DVF - 100 valve base cracking breaking

Is anyone else having problems with dvf-100 valves breaking / splitting at the main threaded base and or body that are manufactured around May - July 2011? I've seen more of these break this year than ever before. The several hundred Rainbird dv valves that have been installed up to 8 years prior to last year are humming along pretty well. But the ones mentioned above have a high failure rate.

The manufacture date is located on the bonnet(top) and there might be a cryptic molding date on the bottom of the valves base.

FYI, its not over tightening or over taping, freezing etc...

I had issues with some earlier in the season. Where did you get your? I was replacing them with the RB PGA until I couldn't get them anymore. I am putting in mostly Hunter right now. They have given me the fewest problems.

I got them from Ewing last year. Really worried that more will fail

Keep records and if you are lucky you might get some new valves

Isnt that a given? There is a 5 - year warranty on dvfs. I exchange mine with no questions asked.

I am having major problems with pgas. So much so rainbird said they would reinburse me for labor with rainbird credit.

Apparently you are not the only one with PGA problems. My supplier say they are not available right now.

That is nice. I have had RB fail and it is a pita for me. I know stuff breaks but there gets to be a point where you give up as the labor is killing you.

Yes labor has been killer on pga's. So far we have gone back and cut out 30 pgas... and still have more to go. They are giving us peb's to swap in and said they will give us rainbird credit for labor cost.

I used them exclusively for one year after I got tired of PGV problems. Now I have had at least one pga fail on every irrigation job I did last year. We are going back and replacing all of them with pebs.
