Is Winter Rye seeding necessary in Southern California?

I know alot of you on here are from back east but I thought I would get your input anyway. We dont get bad winters here in SoCal so I was wondering if you think seeding winter rye is necessary? I want the grass to keep growing so I still have business though This is my first year by myself and I have never done it before so I do not know what to expect when seeding and next spring. Thanks for the help!

Where you located in so cal? Im gonna move out to San Diego in a couple years. We only oversees with rye on sports turf here if it gets too cold. Usually though, that's not a problem. I was in so cal in January and the lows were 46 or so....if the turf isn't going dormant at those temps...I would say you probably don't need to...
